Grandmaster Ed Zickowski has been a dedicated and loyal student of Kajukenbo under the teachings of Reyes Kenpo Karate Club and the Reyes Lineage since 1977. He has learned, taught and continues to teach the original Hard Style, Emperado Method, as taught to him by Great Grand Master Aleju (aka, GGM Reyes) and Senior Grandmaster Alan Reyes (aka, SGM Reyes).

History

Professor Ed Zickowski, (aka, GM Z or Sifu Z) started his training in January 1977 under GGM Aleju Reyes until his untimely passing. He continued his training under SGM Alan Reyes, son and successor to Reyes Kenpo. SGM Alan Reyes maintained Sijo Emperado’s original knowledge as taught to him by his father GGM Aleju Reyes.

Throughout the years GM Zickowski has been the right hand of SGM Reyes through constant training, instructing, and his involvement in all aspects of RKK operations.

2004 GM Ed Zickowski receiving his 6th degree. This was SGM Reyes’ own 6th degree belt. GM Z later returned the belt to the Reyes family to Sigung Christopher Reyes for his 6th degree. Lee Hart, Ed Zickowski, Alan Reyes.

In December of 2014 SGM Alan Reyes awarded GM Zickowski the rank of 9th degree and title of Grandmaster. GM Zickowski trained continuously with SGM Alan Reyes until his passing in 2019. Before his passing SGM Reyes named GM Zickowski the successor to the Reyes Kenpo Karate Vacaville school, to which he accepted with the blessing of the Reyes family.

GM Z has taught and assisted in many seminars from California, Nevada, to Hawaii demonstrating the original Hard Style Kajukenbo, Emperado Method. He has participated and won awards in many tournaments over the years and remains active in the tournament community. Named RKK’s Instructor of the Year many times for his dedication and propagation of the Original Art of Kajukenbo.
