Another question to be asked as a "add on" to your question, that would be interesting to Kaj students, is "when" they Blacked in the early 60-70's from the pioneers and "when" did they leave their promoting schools to either continue under another Kaj Flag or started their own school, or just left completely,,,,or were they still under the promoting school? It would be interesting to me of the Reyes Lineage, because of statements involving the Reyes Lineage.....As for instance, the Rimando Lineage, Al Rimando was promoted at a family gathering in 64, with the permission of Emperado by GGM Aleju Reyes....and stayed true to the Reyes' Lineage or protocol, throughout those years to the present 2010..Sorry to say, not all that was promoted by Reyes' Lineage can say that...It is one of those cases as in "OUR" case,, people talk the talk, BUT did they walk the walk..nothing is wrong about taking other paths, as we all know..... life is hard. History is History With all due respect GMReyes

Talking about *history*, who are the "original lost ones from the Kalihi school under Great GM John Leoning", that Sigung Bobby is talking about, how did they become *lost*, and when were they found?
Thanks.
Tim

Aloha, Sifu Tim. The term lost ones was what Sijo used. It ment Sijo students that move away from Hawaii in the 60's that did not keep in touch, Some of these kajukeno people just stayed with the Kenpo name, Didnt use the Kajukenbo name.. Cut them selfs off for what ever reason. Also The KAJUKENBO name was kind of new back in the early days, It wasnt known well here in the mainland, So alot of our Kaju brothers and sisters just useing the name Kenpo and stayed with it. (To help increase inrollment) (kajukenbo is Kenpo and Kenpo is Kajukenbo there both Sijo) Kenpo was first. In 1998 or it might 99 Sojo made an announement at his K.S.D.I. Tourament. He said if anyone knew any of the lost ones tell them that he wanted them to come back. They would help make Kajukenbo grow . I feel he made this statement to send a signal of forgiveness. Some may have left because of politics, some because of feeling being hurt, Some just moved away. I believe that there is still a few lost ones out there, I for one would like to know who they are.. Some knew just how forgiving Sijo was . He just seemed to let things roll off his shoulder " What Eva" Some of us today may have lost ones, I have a couple. These are also ones that have recieved there Black and that was enough for them. Most of those sometimes come back later or tain elsewhere. Sifu i hope this is helpful, Kaju Rocks! Sigung Bobby

Thank you Sigung for teaching us some of the important Kajukenbo history, taking the time out of your day to be here on the Cafe. Your right, "Kaju Rocks!", and has been a BIG part of my life since I was 9 years old, and has helped me more times than I can count Have a great weekend. Tim

Great answer Sigung Bobby! There are alot of "lost" ones that don't even know they are lost ,,,but hopefully and the right paths, some can be reintroduced, without ridicule, but to take a long look of where they have been, and be reunited with those who miss and have great memories of times past,,,,when "KAJ" was one, when one "warrior" renters the fold with the right mindset,,,,it just makes "KAJ" stronger. with all due respect GMReyes

Thanks for the backup! The "truth" in history is sometimes hard for some to take,,,But necessary for those who are willing to accept it, to continue on with a positive flow,,,and I am humbled and proud of your personal message to me. I feel that it just a thought that would have been said, if GGM Aleju Reyes was still with us. As his Successor to Reyes Kenpo Karate, he is speaking thru me, for my thoughts were his, and his thoughts were Sijo Emperado's, and UNITY of KAJ is the most important topic that "WE" all share. As "WE" are the extended "FAMILY" of Sijo Emperado. with all due respect GMReyes
